Short survey: Who owns Connewitz?

About the research project

Who receives my rent payments? And who actually owns the flat that I am living in? Even though these questions are very relevant for the basic need for adequate housing, answers are hard to come by in Germany. With increasing frequency, owners are companies like Vonovia: listed on the stock exchange and primarily concerned with maximising profits. Effects are noticeable in Leipzig and Connewitz as well: rents are rising, the quarter’s social structure is changing, luxurious new-build projects are popping up in many places.

You can find the online presence of the research project here (German, English, Spanish).

About the team

The team currently consists of representatives from University of Leipzig, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and the Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development.
